Welcome to Grade 2 Mathematics at “Strive to Learn,” where we follow the Ontario curriculum to provide a robust foundation in math for your child. Our comprehensive course is crafted to align with the standards outlined by the Ontario Ministry of Education. Through dynamic lessons and interactive activities inspired by the Ontario Elementary Mathematics Curriculum for Grade 2, students will delve into number concepts, computational strategies, patterns, measurement, geometry, and financial literacy.
At “Strive to Learn,” we value personalized learning experiences. Before the first lesson, parents engage in discussions with our tutors to create a tailored tuition plan. This plan allows parents to play an active role in shaping their child’s educational journey, giving them the opportunity to select specific lessons and activities that suit their child’s unique learning needs and interests.
By the end of this course, students will be able to:
Understand number concepts up to 100, including benchmarks of 25, 50, and 100, and personal referents.
Master addition and subtraction facts to 20 and develop computational strategies for solving problems.
Perform addition and subtraction operations up to 100.
Recognize and create repeating and increasing patterns.
Represent changes in quantity using pictorial and symbolic representation.
Understand symbolic representation of equality and inequality.
Learn about direct linear measurement, introducing standard metric units.
Identify and describe multiple attributes of 2D shapes and 3D objects.
Interpret pictorial representations of concrete graphs using one-to-one correspondence.
Discuss the likelihood of familiar life events using comparative language.
Develop financial literacy skills, including understanding coin combinations to 100 cents and concepts of spending and saving.
