Welcome to Grade 5 English at “Strive to Learn,” where we follow the Ontario curriculum to provide a dynamic English language arts experience for your child. Our course is meticulously crafted to align with the Ontario Elementary Language Curriculum for Grade 5, emphasizing language development and literacy skills.
Through interactive lessons and captivating activities inspired by the Ontario curriculum, students will explore a diverse range of text forms including narratives, poems, reports, and explanations. They will enhance their reading comprehension, refine their writing skills across various genres, and deepen their understanding of language features and conventions such as grammar, punctuation, and figurative language.
At “Strive to Learn,” we value personalized learning. Before the first lesson, parents collaborate with our tutors to create a customized tuition plan. This plan empowers parents to shape their child’s educational journey by selecting specific lessons and activities tailored to their child’s unique learning needs and interests.
By the end of this course, students will be able to:
Identify and analyze different forms, functions, and genres of text, including narratives, poetry, informational texts, and more.
Recognize and understand text features, literary elements, and literary devices to enhance comprehension and interpretation.
Analyze perspective and point of view in texts, considering how different viewpoints shape meaning.
Employ effective reading strategies, oral language strategies, and metacognitive strategies to enhance comprehension and critical thinking.
Navigate the writing process, from brainstorming and planning to revising and editing, to produce well-structured and coherent texts.
